Solait did not expect that sort of response from the Vulcan. The 'live long and prosper' line did get a smile from him. How curious, she was brave to say that outloud. Laf'ilak could sense the tension growing between the two and quickly began to dig at Solait's feet, prompting him to scoop her up into his arms again.
"Oh but of course," Solait said in a dismissive tone, clearly not rattled by the ominous threat from the Vulcan. He ruffled some feathers, maybe he should back off a bit? He wanted Pi'arev to like him after all. "And I am no deserted, I simply am a Romulan who knows what I want. I am not trying to insult you at all, my dear," Solait chuckled as he held his epohh a little tighter. He didn't think Pi'arev was going to try anything, but.... Maybe she would? "I was not calling you spineless, no, but in my time serving the Empire I realised there were more than a few people who was unhappy with how their identity was being pretty much outlawed," Solait made his case, trying to sound as nice as he could, but it was clear there was a strong difference of opinion between him and the Vulcan. "But I respect your decision to stay, my intention was not to insult, you have my word on that," Solait shook his head, his epohh making a weird squeaking noise as if she had something to say as well.
"That I do, well, I will tell you anything you want to know. You know my name, my species, I have nothing to hide. I don't have any family if you're going to ask me about that, they all died after the Hobus Supernova, I grew up an orphan, alone on the streets, " Solait said, lying very casually with no clues that he was even doing so. It was true his family was dead, but he was part of a not-so-secret ring of dissidents within the Empire who caused much mischief before all defecting. Solait was one of the lucky few who were successful, but the majority of the group was not so lucky.
